About the player
Paul Walters grew up going through FC Cincinnati's academy, joining as a Lakota West High School student before working through the club's U17 and U19 sides. He committed to Northwestern University, where he made four appearances in 2022 before a Homegrown Player contract with FC Cincinnati in January 2023.
He made 19 starts in the 2023 MLS NEXT Pro season and kept two clean sheets. A loan to Hartford Athletic in the USL Championship followed in March 2024, where he made seven appearances, six of them starts, in which he kept two clean sheets and made 21 saves. He returned to FC Cincinnati 2 for the 2025 campaign, adding 13 more appearances and at least two clean sheets, including a shutout against New England Revolution II in which he made seven saves.
In January 2026, Walters moved on loan to Bohemians for the season, arriving in time for the club's opener in February. He has since made nine appearances and kept four clean sheets. Bohemians' goalkeeping coach, Seán Fogarty, praised his athletic and aggressive style as a goalkeeper when the move was announced.
