About the player
Qilong Ruan started out as a goalkeeper with the Fujian Football Association youth team before being converted to a defender. He joined Beijing Guoan's youth academy in March 2019 and made his senior debut for the club in December 2021, with loan spells to the China U19 and U20 sides along the way to build up match experience.
In July 2024 he moved on loan to China League One side Liaoning Tieren, where he made 12 appearances and scored one goal before returning to Beijing Guoan at the end of the season. In January 2025 he left Beijing Guoan permanently, moving to Chongqing Tongliang Long in a transfer that also took his former teammates He Xiaoqiang and Ma Yujun to the same club.
At international level, Ruan has represented China at youth level, with caps for the U18 side in 2019 and further appearances for the U23 team between 2023 and 2024, including involvement in the 2024 AFC U-23 Asian Cup qualifiers and warm-up matches.
