About the player
Ramazan Karimov scored 45 goals in 81 appearances between 2017 and 2019 and finishing as the Second League's top scorer in 2018 with 27 goals. That form earned him a debut for the main squad in October 2018.
Between 2017 and 2022 he made only four appearances for Astana, scoring once, and spent time away on loan at FC Kaspiy, first for two matches in 2020 and then for a fuller season in 2021, when he added 18 league appearances and three goals. In 2022 he left for FC Makhtaaral, where he found more consistent football, playing 46 league matches and scoring 15 goals over two seasons.
Karimov returned to FC Astana in 2024 and featured more regularly across competitions, appearing in the Premier League, the UEFA Europa Conference League, the Kazakhstan Cup and the Kazakhstan League Cup. He was part of Astana squads that won the Kazakhstan Premier League in 2018 and 2019 and the Kazakhstan Super Cup in 2019, and he shared in the club's Kazakhstan League Cup and Kazakhstan Cup wins in 2024.
At international level, Karimov made his debut for Kazakhstan on 28 March 2021 in a 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier against France, a match Kazakhstan lost 0–2.
