Yan Vorogovskiy

Yan Vorogovskiy made his senior debut with Kaisar Kyzylorda in 2015 before a move to FC Kairat a year later. In 2019 he took the step abroad, joining Belgian side Beerschot for a fee of €100,000, then returned to Kairat for a spell before heading back to Belgium in 2022, this time with RWDM Brussels. That switch paid off: he was a fixture in the side that won the Challenger Pro League in the 2022/23 season, and the loan was converted into a permanent deal that summer for €250,000.

His move to FC Astana in July 2023, for a reported €400,000. He has made more than seventy league appearances for the club and was named the Kazakhstan Premier League's Best Defender in 2024, winning the Seyilda Bayshakov Prize. Astana lifted the Kazakhstan League Cup that same year, though the club finished as league runners-up in both 2023 and 2024.

The domestic championship itself has proven elusive for Vorogovskiy. Kairat won the Premier League title in 2019 and again in 2024, but on both occasions after he had already left the club, leaving that particular trophy off his list of honours despite a career built largely around consistent, high-level defensive performances at home and abroad.

At international level, he has become a regular for Kazakhstan, with dozens of caps and several goals scored for the national team over the years.
