About the player
Sota Miura took the long route into professional football. He came through Teikyo High School and then Nippon Sport Science University before signing with Ventforet Kofu as a free transfer in 2022. A season and a half in J2 League, including 21 appearances in 2023, was enough to persuade Kawasaki Frontale to bring him in for an undisclosed fee in January 2024.
The move up to J1 League suited him immediately. In his debut season at Kawasaki Frontale he made 20 appearances, scored once and set up four goals, finishing among the league's top assist providers. He also won the Japanese Super Cup with the club in 2024.
That form carried him into the national team picture. Miura earned his first cap for Japan on 1 January 2024, coming off the bench in the 68th minute of a friendly against Thailand. He was later included in the squad for the 2024 Asian Cup, though he did not feature in the tournament itself.
