Snorre Strand Nilsen

Nilsen's route to senior football ran through Portsmouth. He left Gjøvik-Lyn, the club he had joined at the age of five, to sign for the Raufoss youth setup in 2013 before crossing to England that same year to join Portsmouth's academy. He was promoted to the club's under-18 side in 2015 and had a loan spell at Bognor Regis Town, but returned to Norway in 2016 to rejoin Gjøvik-Lyn.

His career took shape back home. Signing for Raufoss in January 2017, Nilsen became a regular over four seasons, making 83 league appearances and scoring 12 goals, form that took him to Kristiansund BK on a free transfer in 2021. He established himself as a first-choice starter there, and was part of the Kristiansund squad that won promotion back to the Eliteserien through the play-offs in 2023, having been relegated the year before.

That spell also produced eight goals in 84 league games across three seasons. HamKam signed him on a free transfer in January 2024, and he has continued as a regular fixture there, passing 53 league appearances for the club and adding two more goals.

Every one of his senior moves — from Portsmouth back to Gjøvik-Lyn, on to Raufoss, then Kristiansund and finally HamKam — has been completed without a transfer fee.
