About the player
Turgay Philipp Gemicibaşı was born in Riesa, Germany, and turned senior. He started out at Sportfreunde Siegen and FC Gütersloh in the Oberliga, then moved to Austria in 2017, playing for FC Mauerwerk and FC Blau-Weiß Linz before signing for SK Austria Klagenfurt in the Bundesliga on a free transfer.
A loan to Kasımpaşa in the Süper Lig for the 2022–2023 season gave him a taste of Turkish football, the country he represents at youth level after a single cap for Turkey's under-18 side. He went back to Klagenfurt afterwards, then returned to Turkey in 2024, signing for Göztepe and later Adanaspor in the TFF 1. Lig, both on free transfers. Neither move carried a fee, and the one notable financial detail from his career is one that never happened: a €50,000 bid from Austria Lustenau in 2023 that fell through.
Early in 2025 he signed for SKN St. Pölten in the Austrian 2. Liga, making his debut for the club in May of that year, before joining Admira Wacker on a free transfer in June 2025. He now wears number 8 there. The move has suited him: in the 2025–2026 season he has made 27 league appearances and scored four league goals, with 33 appearances and seven goals in all competitions as of September 2026.
