Dijon

In December 2017 a court in Dijon put the professional company behind the city's top-flight hockey team into liquidation. The club had been relegated to Division 2 that spring. The amateur association, the Club des Patineurs et Hockeyeurs Dijonnais, followed on 13 July 2018. Six weeks before that, on 22 May, a new association had been registered so the city would not be left without a team. It was first called Dijon Métropole Hockey Club and soon became Hockey Club Dijon. It kept the nickname Les Ducs and started again in Division 3.

The old club dated from 1969 and spent many years in the Ligue Magnus. Its best stretch came under Daniel Maric, who coached it for a long time and won the Camil-Gélinas Trophy as the league's best coach in 2006. That was also the year of the first of two Coupe de France wins, a 3–2 final against Briançon. The second, in 2012, was a 7–6 win over Rouen. The cup came in the same years as two players from the club's own academy, Anthony Guttig and Nicolas Ritz. Each won the Jean-Pierre-Graff Trophy, Guttig in 2009 and Ritz in 2013. Each also won the Albert Hassler Trophy the season after Ritz's, Ritz in 2014 and Guttig in 2012.

The new club plays in the Patinoire Trimolet, which holds about 1,000. In 2024 it won the Division 3 championship and returned to Division 2. The Ligue Magnus, where the derbies with the Aiglons de Besançon were played, is still two divisions away.
