Besançon

The fixture that matters in Besançon is the one against the Ducs de Dijon. Besançon's men now play in Division 3, the fourth tier of French ice hockey, so the derby is a meeting of clubs well below the top level.

The club has had more than one life. The original Besançon Hockey Club, the Séquanes, was founded in 1970 and won Division 2 in 2001, which took it up to the Ligue Magnus. A year later it reached the Coupe de France final and lost 1–8 to the Dragons de Rouen. In 2003 it folded under financial pressure, and the same year the hockey section was re-established inside the Besançon Skating Club.

The new club took several names. It began as Les Aiglons, the Young Eagles, and became the Besançon Doubs Hockey Club in 2009. For a while it was Les Remparts, after the city's Vauban fortifications. In 2012 it went back to Les Aiglons, and by the end of the 2012-13 season it had settled on Les Aigles de Besançon, taken from the city's coat of arms.

Her sons Nicolas and Guillaume both reached the Ligue Magnus. Guillaume was named the league's most valuable player, the Trophée Albert Hassler, in 2018-19. The women's side won the French Elite Championship in 2018, beating HC74, Amiens and Tours in the final four under captain Sophie Leclerc. She was later picked for the French squad for the 2026 Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics. Lucie Quarto, born in Besançon, now plays in the NCAA and has 76 caps for France.

Home games are at the Patinoire Lafayette, which holds 1,300 and is painted in the club's red, black and yellow.
