Handball Emmen sits in the Nationalliga B, the second tier of Swiss handball.
Promotion has come six times, in 1975/76, 1979/80, 1981/82, 1992/93, 2017/18 and 2021/22. None of those stints in the top flight, the Nationalliga A, produced a title; the furthest the club got was fourth place, twice, back when it still played under the name HC Emmenstrand. No Swiss Championship and no Swiss Cup sit in the cabinet.

The current club dates to June 2009, formed when the handball section of ATVE Emmenbrücke merged with HC Emmenstrand.
