What became Ermis Aradippou began as an act of defiance: in 1958, members of AON, the Anorthosis youth organisation banned from playing football after British colonial authorities outlawed it in 1955, formed a club of their own. They took their name and crest from Hermes, and the winged sandals on the badge gave the club its nickname, "Fteropodo" — the Winged Ones.

Most of Ermis Aradippou's history has been spent outside the top flight, shuttling between the Second and Third Divisions, with relegations from the First Division in 2002 and 2012 bracketing brief spells among Cyprus's elite. The exception came in 2013–14, when the club finished fourth in the First Division, reached the Cypriot Cup final for the first time, and qualified for the UEFA Europa League qualifying rounds. Marco Tagbajumi topped the league's scoring charts that season with 18 goals. The following year brought the club's only major trophy, the Cypriot Super Cup, sealed by a Yiannis Taralidis free-kick in the 95th minute against APOEL. That run marked the start of a four-season stay in the top division, before relegation returned in 2018. Cup final aside, the club has never lifted the Cypriot Cup itself, losing that 2014 final 2–0 to APOEL.

The club plays in red and blue, a scheme it briefly abandoned for black under president Louka Fanierou before restoring blue in 2025. Its own Aradippou Municipal Stadium holds only around 2,000, too small for First Division football, which has pushed home games to the larger Ammochostos Stadium in Larnaca when the club has needed the extra capacity.

No fixture carries more weight locally than the Aradippou derby against Omonia Aradippou, a club that shares the same municipal ground; talks to merge the two have broken down more than once. Games against Nea Salamina add a second, regional edge to the calendar.
