Hamburger SV Women

Women's football at Hamburger Sportverein took shape as a separate department in 1970. For much of its life the side has moved between grounds on the edge of the city: a spell at the Paul Hauenschild Sportanlage in Norderstedt, occasional matches at Sportpark Eimsbüttel, and, since the 2024/25 season, Platz 6 am HSV-Campus, next to the Volksparkstadion.

The department reached a domestic final in 2002, losing 0-5 to 1. FFC Frankfurt in the DFB-Pokal, and its best league placing came in 2010/11, when HSV finished fourth in the Bundesliga. Financial trouble then forced the club out of the top flight in 2012, and it took until 2025 to work back up through the Regionalliga Nord. Tanja Vreden scored 88 goals in 175 Bundesliga-era appearances for HSV, while Catharina Schimpf , who played for the side in the late 2000s, later returned as Women's Football Coordinator.

Two derbies define the calendar. Against FC St. Against Werder Bremen, it is the Nordderby, and the sides' 2025 DFB-Pokal semi-final meeting at the Volksparkstadion drew more than 57,000 spectators, a record for a women's match in Germany.
