Huddinge IK

Huddinge sits on Stockholm's southern edge, a suburb with its own name and its own sports halls. Björkängshallen holds 2,500.

That night came in 1992/93, when 12,487 people watched a qualifier against AIK at the Globe Arena. Huddinge IK, known as HIK and followed by a supporters' group called the Red Tigers, had reached the stage where promotion to the top tier was at stake. The club has spent 21 seasons in the second tier, and no other Swedish side has missed out on promotion as many times, which is how it came to be called the perennial qualifier.

Long before that, in 1989, a game against Timrå IK ran into a third period of overtime. The club had separated from the multi-sport Huddinge IF on 8 January 1950. In the 1990s and 2010s it kept collecting Division 1 group titles.

Jhonas Enroth, a goaltender, won the World Championship in 2013 and was named its best goaltender. Marcus Krüger won the Stanley Cup in 2013 and 2015. Peter Nylander won world titles in 1992 and 2006.

Södertälje SK and Väsby IK are the nearest rivals in the Stockholm area.
