ÍBV Vestmannaeyjar Women

Four Icelandic championships came ÍBV's way between 2000 and 2006, with the club's peak stretching to 2004.

The team plays under the ÍBV banner. Handball on Vestmannaeyjar predates that merger by over a decade: the women's side was already competing in the top flight under Þór's name back in 1985.

Locals know the team as Kæling, the Cold Ones, and its matches are played at Íþróttamiðstöð Vestmannaeyja, a hall holding 800. That capacity has not stopped the club from building squads with a genuine international edge over the years, drawing in players such as Anja Nielsen, Birgit Engl, Vera Lopes and Marija Jovanović alongside home-grown talent like Sandra Erlingsdóttir.

ÍBV's main contests on the mainland come against Valur and Stjarnan, both clubs that have kept the Icelandic title race competitive whenever Vestmannaeyjar's side has pushed for silverware.
