Jaguars

In 1999 the Jaguars won the AFC Central for the second season running, a stretch that took them to the AFC Championship Game twice — beaten by the New England Patriots after the 1996 season and by the Tennessee Titans after 1999. Neither run reached a Super Bowl, and none has since.

The franchise exists because Wayne Weaver pushed to bring the NFL to Jacksonville, and the league's owners granted the expansion vote on 30 November 1993, with the team taking the field for the first time in 1995. Weaver ran the club until 2012, when Shahid Khan took over.

Division titles have come in clusters separated by long gaps: the two AFC Central crowns in the late 1990s, then nothing until the AFC South title in 2017 under Doug Marrone. Tom Coughlin, who built the early Jaguars into a contender, was inducted into the club's Pride of the Jaguars in 2024. Trevor Lawrence now carries the franchise record book that Mark Brunell and Jimmy Smith once filled.

The Indianapolis Colts have been the team's defining rival since realignment put both clubs in the AFC South in 2002, with Tennessee and Houston filling out a division that has produced three of the club's five titles this century. Home games are played in teal, black and gold at EverBank Stadium.
