Kitzbühel

In 2016 Kitzbühel came within a penalty shoot-out of the Tyrolean Cup, having already lost the final the same way two years before; a season later they lost it on penalties again, this time to SV Wörgl.

The club traces back to Kitzbüheler Sportclub, founded in November 1930, though it had to start over in March 1947 after the Allied ban on sports associations closed it down along with every other club in Austria. The skiers Toni Sailer and Christian Pravda both played for Kitzbühel as youngsters, as did the singer Hansi Hinterseer.

Those honours sit at fourth-tier level — the Tiroler Liga in 2013/14 and 2016/17, then the Regionalliga Tirol in 2023/24, each title bringing promotion to the Regionalliga West rather than a stay there. The best the club has managed in that third tier is fifth place, in 2014/15.

What Kitzbühel has produced more reliably is players who left. Lukas Hinterseer came through the youth ranks between 2001 and 2008 and went on to win 13 caps for Austria, including at Euro 2016; Andreas Hölzl arrived the other way, joining in 2017 near the end of a career that had already brought him 9 caps. The academy behind them has taken 8 Tyrolean youth titles and finished Austrian vice-champions the same number of times.
