Kremenchuk's hockey club has spent most of the last decade turning that unglamorous reputation into something worth watching on ice.

The team came together in 2010, though its early years were shaped by a border it no longer plays across: it competed in the Belarusian top division until 2014, when the political situation forced a withdrawal and a return to Ukrainian competition. In 2018 the club put its own identity to a vote, asking supporters whether to change its name and mascot, and chose to keep both.

Kremenchuk took the Ukrainian Championship in 2020 and again in 2025, and added the Ukrainian Cup in both 2023 and 2025, but the runners-up finishes tell more about the club's decade. That record has fed a rivalry with HC Donbass, sharpened by disputed finishes in recent seasons.
