Odeshchina

Oleksandr Vlashchynskyi arrived in Odessa in February 2026 from the youth system of Stavanger Oilers, a defender already capped for Ukraine's youth national team. HC Odeschyna itself had barely existed a year at that point. It was set up in 2025 at the initiative of the Odessa Regional State Administration, with backing from the Ice Hockey Federation of Ukraine, and stepped straight into the Ukrainian Hockey League and the Ukrainian Cup that same season.

The Cup debut was rough — a 1:9 defeat to HC Kremenchuk in September 2025, played in front of a home crowd in Odessa, ended any run at the final before it began. The league campaign told a different story. Under head coach Dmytro Tsymbal, Odeschyna worked its way to bronze in the 2025/26 Ukrainian Hockey League. Anton Roslyakov, on the roster as a player, also took on assistant coaching duties that season.

Odeschyna trains and plays across two Odessa rinks, the Kryzhynka inside the Palace of Sports and the covered Umka rink. There is already a rival to measure the club against: HC Storm Odessa, and the two sides' meetings have taken on the shape of a proper derby. A youth side carrying the Odeschyna name added a Black Sea Cup title in 2026.
