Námestovo

Slavoj Námestovo took the field in this corner of Orava on 1 April 1931 before the club settled, in 1992, on the one it wears now: MŠK Námestovo.

Most of its history was spent well below the country's top flight, so the 1996–97 title in the 4. Liga SsFZ North stood as a rare highlight for years. That changed in 2020–21, when Námestovo won the Third Division's Group Middle and earned promotion to the 2. Liga for the first time in the club's existence. The step up did not hold — a sixteenth-place finish the following season sent the club straight back down to the third tier.

Silvester Habiňák runs through the club's story on both sides of the game: he kept goal for Námestovo before becoming its long-serving president. Others moved on to bigger stages, among them Milan Kollár, who went on to play for Sparta Praha.

Local pride runs into Tatran Oravské Veselé, and the meetings between the two are known simply as the Orava derby.

Home games are played in yellow and black, colours that gave the club its nickname, the "Yellow-blacks", at the Štadión MŠK Námestovo, which holds 2,000. Heading into the 2025–26 season, the club sits second in the 3. Liga Central group.
