December 22, 1957: Kazimierz Boruta puts together an inter-school sports club in Brzeg and calls it Orlik. Nearly four decades pass before the operation is formalised as SKS Orlik Brzeg, entered into the National Court Register on September 17, 1993.

The men's side spent years fixed in the lower divisions and only broke through in 2022/2023, finishing third in Group B of the II Liga's championship round to earn a place in the I Liga, the country's second tier. In their first season up, 2023/2024, Orlik finished bottom of the table. A league reorganisation spared them the drop that would normally follow a last-place finish.

Andrzej Wieczorek runs the club as president, while Michał Piech combined playing and coaching duties on the way to that promotion. Beyond the senior men's team, Orlik keeps youth ranks and a Masters section going.

The team plays in yellow and black out of the Hala Sportowa MOSiR on Oławska Street. What the club has instead of silverware is a rivalry: matches against UKS Olimp Grodków are billed as the Derby of Opole Voivodeship.
