Panthers

Bank of America Stadium sits in uptown Charlotte with room for 75,000, and for eight games in 1995 the Panthers had nowhere near that: the ground was still under construction, so the club's inaugural home schedule opened at Clemson Memorial Stadium across the state line in South Carolina. It went up as Ericsson Stadium in 1996, took its current name in 2004, and went through a major rebuild between 2014 and 2017.

NFL owners voted the franchise into existence on 26 October 1993, making it the league's 29th member, and the Panthers took the field for the first time in 1995 alongside the Jacksonville Jaguars. Play in black, Panther Blue and silver, under the motto "Keep Pounding."

The club has never won a Super Bowl but has reached two: Super Bowl XXXVIII, lost to the New England Patriots, and Super Bowl 50, lost to the Denver Broncos. Ron Rivera took them to the second of those, coaching through the 2015 season that also brought Cam Newton the league MVP award and the fourth of the club's NFC South titles. Julius Peppers, the franchise's career sacks leader, went into the Hall of Fame; Steve Smith Sr. still holds the club's receiving records.

Division rivalries run along Interstate 85 with the Atlanta Falcons. David Tepper has owned the team since 2018, when he bought it from founding owner Jerry Richardson.

Seven division titles now stand to the Panthers' name, the most recent coming in 2025.
