Promotion has taken Loko back to the Maxa NBL for the 2026/2027 season, ending fourteen years spent in the second tier of Czech basketball, BK Loko BaliMania Plzeň.

The club's last stretch in the top division ran through the 2010/11 and 2011/12 seasons, reached after winning the 1. Liga in 2009/10 on the back of a runner-up finish the year before.

Loko traces itself to 1945, formed inside the Lokomotiva sports organisation for railway workers, itself a continuation of a Sokol unit founded in 1907. The club still plays out of the Městská sportovní hala.

Martin David has become the player most associated with the current side, a former youth fan of the club now established as its key man on court. Against BK Levharti Chomutov, particularly among the youth categories, both the U13 and U14 sides took national titles in 2025/26.
