The 2022 Turkish Cup final put Sivasspor against Kayserispor, and Sivasspor won it 3:2. That match remains the club's only major trophy.

In May 1967, three local sides — Sivas Gençlik Kulübü, Yolspor and Kızılırmakspor — were folded into one, with the mayor and the provincial governor backing the merger and a handful of local organisers doing the work. They took red and white from the national flag.

The third division title in 1999, then the second in 2005, then the top flight, where the 2008–09 season produced a second place in the Süper Lig.

The same season brought a Super Cup final, lost, and another cup semi-final.
