Titany Volgograd

The Palace of Sports of the Trade Unions on Prospekt Lenina holds 3,700 for basketball, with 2,500 fixed seats and the rest filled in on the floor around the court when the crowd warrants it. The Titans fill it with a mix of age groups that rarely shows up under one name on a scoresheet.

Alexey Bandurin started the academy in 2019 as a private venture. The senior men's side that grew out of that investment plays in the Russian Cup under the name Doug Titans, tied to a media basketball project called DAWGS. A separate student team, Titany-VGAFK, represents the Volgograd State Academy of Physical Culture in the Association of Student Basketball and the Interregional Amateur Basketball League.

The amateur side has built its rivalry away from the academy entirely. Titany-VGAFK and Areon Volgograd have met often enough in the Higher Division of the Interregional Amateur Basketball League, including the 2022/2023 final, that their games are treated as the city's derby. Regionally, the measure of progress has been the Cup of Memory of USSR Master of Sports E.A. Taran: second place in 2024, losing the final to Moscow's Golyanovo, then first in 2025.

Doug Titans enter the 2025/2026 Russian Cup in Group A alongside Stavbasket, Dynamo-MGTU and SSOR Lokomotiv-Kuban.
