The newer side has built its identity around its academy rather than results in the senior league: the squad's average age sits around 19, and in 2023 that group beat İstanbul Teknik Üniversiteliler 35-31 to win the Youth Men's Turkey Championship. Yunus Emre Topsakal, a centre back capped for the senior national team, has come through that pipeline; so did several of the current under-18 internationals still on the books. Çetin Çelik is the thread linking the two eras, having played for the club both before 2016 and after its revival.

The colours carried across the break: maroon, blue and white. The fiercest fixture on the calendar is against Güneysuspor, over in Rize, a meeting known locally as the Black Sea Derby, with Samsunspor and Giresunspor filling out the regional rivalries. Home games are played at the Beşirli Multi-Purpose Sports Hall, in the Beşirli Sports Complex in the Ortahisar district of Trabzon.
