Warnemunde U19

The teams that matter most to Warnemünde are all within the city limits. SV Hafen Rostock 61, the Rostocker FC and PSV Rostock meet them every year in the Rostocker Stadtmeisterschaft, the city championship.

The football section broke away from the multi-sport club SV Warnemünde 1949 on 17 August 1999 and has run its own affairs since. The parent club traces back to the shipyard: BSG Motor Warnowwerft, which took the Rostock district title in 1954 and then repeatedly through the 1970s, the last of them in 1992.

Two years before the split came the afternoon the seniors are still measured by. The Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Cup of 1997 put them into the DFB-Pokal, where Borussia Dortmund took them apart 8:0. The Verbandsliga title followed in 1999, the Landesliga in 2008 and again in 2019.

Between 1997 and 2001 the club had Tom Weilandt on its books before he left for FC Hansa Rostock. He won the German under-19 championship there in 2010 and went on to play for Greuther Fürth, Bochum and Kiel.

Stadion Parkstraße, part of the Friedrich-Ludwig-Jahn-Sportpark, holds 4,000; the synthetic pitch alongside it takes 500.

The under-19 side won the Landesliga Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Staffel II, in 2022/23. They now play in the Verbandsliga Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, in red and white, with the job of staying there.
