The Vaud derby against US Yverdon is the fixture that matters most for West Handball Club, and it exists because both towns sit close enough on the map that a handball rivalry could take root without either side needing much else to justify it. West itself was never a single-town project in the usual sense: the senior side in the National League B was put together as a partnership between HC Crissier, Lausanne-Ville/Cugy Handball and US Yverdon, a way of pooling players from three clubs to keep a team competitive at that level. It plays alongside, not instead of, the older HC Crissier, and the two still share facilities and the Handball-Études Vaudois youth academy, even though West is registered separately.

The club has picked up no Swiss Cup or National League title in its time, and its best run in the Schweizer Cup stopped at the round of 64, in the 2021/2022 season. Petar Kapisoda is the name attached to the club's more serious sporting pedigree: a Montenegrin international who had captained the former Yugoslav national team before joining in 2011, he brought a level of experience that a partnership club assembled from local sides does not often have on its bench.

Home games are played at the Marcolet sports hall in Crissier. The club plays in green and black, and traces back to 2001, when Crissier, Lausanne-Ville/Cugy and Yverdon first agreed to put a joint team on the court.
