Arena Zabrze (Stadion im. Ernesta Pohla)

The name over the gates here has changed as many times as the country around it. Built through the 1930s on earthen embankment stands designed by Gustav Allinger, the ground opened under the name Adolf Hitler Kampfbahn, carried that title through more than a decade of occupation, then spent the postwar decades as plain Stadion Miejski — the City Stadium — before Zabrze's council settled on a name that would stick: Ernest Pohl, approved in 2004 and formally attached to the ground the following year.

Górnik Zabrze have called the place home since 1949, and it was under the old embankments that the record crowd gathered on 22 September 1957 — 50,000 inside to watch Górnik beat Gwardia Warszawa 3-1.

The ground closed for a full rebuild in 2011 and reopened in February 2016 as a modern bowl, the project designed by GMT and built by Polimex-Mostostal at a first-phase cost of 192.5 million złoty. It was then that the marketing name Arena Zabrze was hung on the rebuilt structure, even as its formal name stayed with Pohl. The Polish national team has used the ground only sparingly over the decades — seven official fixtures, among them qualifiers for the 1986 World Cup and the European Championships of 1988 and 1996. Away from football, the forecourt hosted the Śląska Scena Letnia festival in 2025.
