The ground has been here since 1918, long before the local club adopted the name Unión Club de Astillero. It sits in the La Planchada district, a name that sticks to the place more firmly than the official title. The municipality owns the site, and after taking over custody in 2024, the club has spent time upgrading the dressing rooms and technical systems. Real Racing Club’s reserve side, Rayo Cantabria, now uses the facility for their Segunda Federation matches. The capacity is listed at 3,000, though only a fraction of that is seated under cover.
