Eishalle Rostock
Rostock, Germany
At Schillingallee 51, the building is an ice sports hall, and the Rostock Piranhas are the main tenants here. The facility opened in September 1971 after replacing an uncovered speed skating track that had occupied the same spot since 1958.
The arena holds 2,000 places. Inside, the stands run alongside the rink, and there are 86 standing places in Block A, according to a hygiene concept from the Piranhas. The venue also hosts the Rostocker EC U15 youth team and the Rostock Figure Skating Club, which puts on an annual Christmas show.
A major renovation is set to begin in 2028. The project, valued at 25 million euros, will take three years to complete. Earlier plans for a new building were abandoned, leaving this structure to be restored instead. The last significant change to the arena happened before these recent discussions.
The building is the largest ice stadium in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Its role is defined by the sports that take place on its frozen surface. The Piranhas’ men’s first team plays in the Oberliga Nord, the third tier of German ice hockey.
