Estadio Alexander "Comanche" Bottini
Maturín, Venezuela
The Estadio Alexander 'Comanche' Bottini sits within the Complejo Polideportivo de Maturín on Avenida Raúl Leoni. Here, the work is quieter.
Opened in 1983, the site carries the name of a local footballer. It served as the home for Monagas Sport Club until 2007, when the first team outgrew the space and moved to the bigger stadium. For years, the place was abandoned, the original grass choked by vegetation. The real change came in 2013. The Instituto del Deporte del Estado Monagas carried out renovations that replaced the natural surface with artificial turf. The capacity remained at 8,000.
Today, it is the home of Atlético La Cruz , who compete in the second division. The highest documented attendance was 6,084, a figure described as unprecedented for this level of football in the country. Most matches see fewer than 500 people. The site is also used by the Elite Rugby Club Monagas , adding a different rhythm to the week. There are no official records of all-time attendance.
