Estádio Cândido Oliveira de Tomás
São Gonçalo (venue name error; actual venue in Petrópolis or Arena Catavento in São Gonçalo), Brazil
Formerly: Catarinão, Arena Catarinão
Gonçalense Futebol Clube did not inherit a ground when it was founded in 2013. The Estádio Cândido Oliveira de Tomás , known locally as Catarinão, is located in the Jardim Catarina district of São Gonçalo and opened in December 2014.
The pitch itself carries a small pedigree: in October 2014 the club laid Bermuda Imperial Celebration turf, the same variety used in the Maracanã's reconstruction. Catarinão settled at 8,500.
Gonçalense made early use of the new arena. In its first year there, 2014, the club won the Campeonato Carioca Série C and earned promotion, following that with a third-place finish in Série B1 and the Copa Rio the following season. A run to the Taça Corcovado final in 2021 was decided elsewhere, at the Alzirão ground in neighbouring Itaboraí.
