Estadio Excelsior

Estadio Excélsior does not have a fixed tenant on record, though it has long served as home ground for Platense FC in the Honduran port city of Puerto Cortés. Little separates it in name from grander national venues, but its identity rests on an unusually early founding date: the stadium traces back to 1930, a year that places it among the older football grounds still standing in the country. That figure sometimes gets mixed up with 1960, which marks the founding of Platense FC itself rather than the construction of the ground the club has come to call home.

The pitch is natural grass, in keeping with most Honduran top-flight venues. Beyond that, detail thins out quickly.

What stands out is less about the structure than about its setting: a modest, 7,500-capacity ground tied to a coastal city better known for its port than its football, carrying nearly a century of history without much documentation to match.
