Estadio Los Milagros de Chitré
Chitré, Panama
A thousand seats is a small number for a top-flight ground, and it is the first thing to know about Estadio Los Milagros de Chitré. The arena sits inside the Urbanisación Los Milagros, a residential quarter of Chitré in the province of Herrera, and the address stops there — no street number appears in the public record. It is a neighbourhood ground that ended up hosting Herrera FC in the Liga Panameña de Fútbol, the country's top division.
And it has taken on outside work. In 2015 the ground staged the final of the first Copa Panamá, between Don Bosco and San Francisco — a national showpiece played in front of a crowd that could not have exceeded four figures. The venue has also hosted CONCACAF qualifying matches in the women's under-17 competition, which brought visiting national teams to a ground.
That combination — a small provincial arena opened in 2013, an artificial pitch, a league club in permanent residence and cup and continental fixtures dropped in on top — is what separates Los Milagros from the many other grounds of its scale. No attendance record has been logged in figures, which is its own kind of detail for a place that has held a national final.
