The ground in Pedro Juan Caballero carries a name that sounds larger than the club that plays there. Estadio Monumental Río Parapití opened in 1977, four decades after Club 2 de Mayo first received the land, and the wait shows in how deliberately the place was put together — a proper bowl for a border city rather than a patched-together local pitch.

What set it apart came in 1999, when the stadium was rebuilt for the Copa América and hosted group-stage matches, including Paraguay against Peru and Japan against Bolivia. For a few weeks that year, a ground named after a river most of the country had never heard of carried continental football, and the work done then still shapes the stands standing today.

The pitch has had its own quieter history of renewal. Club 2 de Mayo relaid the natural grass ahead of its return to the Paraguayan top flight in December 2023, treating the surface as something worth getting right rather than a formality before kick-off.
