Jouppilanvuoren jäähalli
Seinäjoki, Finland
Formerly: Atria-halli
Jouppilanvuoren jäähalli in Seinäjoki is a building that has lived two lives. The old hall closed in March 2018 for a major transformation that turned the temporary shell into a permanent facility meeting Mestis standards. The capacity rose from roughly 1,000 to 1,200 spectators, and the new name became Energia Areena.
The building sits at Alaseinäjoenkatu 9A, part of the Jouppilanvuori sports complex. The surface inside is artificial ice, maintained for the local teams. S-Kiekko, formerly known as SHT, plays in the Suomi-sarja here, not far from where their predecessors once skated in the II-divisioona.
The building has a history of hosting more than just hockey. The old hall was a venue for figure skating events and even the Seinäjoki Tangomarkkinat dance festival. The attendance record of 1,012 spectators was set during the second game of the 2005 Suomi-sarja finals between SHT and HeKi, a match that saw the stands packed despite the venue’s modest size. Today, the arena is quieter, used by S-Kiekko and other local clubs like Seinäjoen Kiekkokerho and Pallo & Boys.
