Langley Events Centre
Langley, Canada
Langley Events Centre is not a football ground. You can see why the name is honest: it is a building designed for a dozen different things, not a single sport. The concrete and steel structure opened in 2009, a time when municipal projects rarely stayed under budget, and it has held its shape since.
The space inside is vast. The Arena Bowl, the largest of the indoor halls, holds a crowd of 5,276.
The building’s main tenant is the Vancouver Giants of the Western Hockey League, who moved into the facility in 2016. They are not the first local outfit to use the space. The Vancouver Bandits of the Canadian Elite Basketball League also call the place home, bringing a different kind of traffic to the doors on summer evenings. Before the Giants arrived, the Langley Rivermen played here, and the Vancouver Stealth ran their National Lacrosse League fixtures from this same concrete bowl. The building has seen the teams change, but the structure remains the same.
