Lightwood Park

Kingston, Australia

Formerly: Tasmanian Baseball Complex

Lightwood Park sits quietly in the Kingborough Sports Precinct. The ground recently completed a six-million-dollar project to bring the pitch up to FIFA standards. That work included new drainage and a rebuilt main playing surface. The upgrades came after the site was shortlisted as one of the national bases for the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023, though the tournament did not end up here.

A smaller grandstand holds 830 seats, a modest number given the total capacity figures floating around town. That was the case during a historic Australia Cup Round of 32 match, where Kingborough Lions United hosted A-League club Melbourne Victory.

Before the football club took over in 1996, the site was the Tasmanian Baseball Complex. The Cricket Club shared the space before the Lions became the sole tenants.
