Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena
Spokane, United States
Formerly: Spokane Arena, Numerica Veterans Arena
Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena sits in the downtown district at 720 W Mallon Avenue, on city-owned land adjacent to the old Spokane Coliseum at an elevation of approximately 1,900 feet above sea level. It opened on September 10, 1995, replacing the aging Spokane Coliseum, which had been built in 1954. Construction began on March 5, 1993, and took approximately 2.5 years to complete, with a total cost of $62.6 million.
The arena has undergone several name changes, opening as Spokane Arena in 1995 before being renamed Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena in 2006. On November 7, 2025, it became Numerica Veterans Arena following a 10-year naming partnership with Numerica Credit Union announced on September 10, 2025. The deal includes a $10 million commitment over 10 years.
The venue hosts various events with seating capacities ranging from 6,951 for half-house shows to 12,638 for end-stage concerts. The current home team is the Spokane Chiefs (WHL), who have played there since 1995. Former teams include the Spokane Shock (indoor football, 2006–2017, 2020–2021) and the Spokane Empire (2016–2017). The Shock won the ArenaCup in 2006 and 2009, and the ArenaBowl in 2010.
Notable events hosted include the 1998 Memorial Cup final (Portland Winter Hawks vs. Guelph Storm), the 2010 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament East Regional semifinals and finals, the 2016 NCAA West Regional first and second rounds plus semifinals and finals, and the 2024 NCAA East Regional first round (Yale vs. Auburn). The Seattle Kraken played their inaugural preseason game here on September 26, 2021, defeating the Vancouver Canucks 5-3. Tyler Johnson brought the Stanley Cup to Spokane for a public celebration on July 29, 2021.
