The old Jahn-Stadion stood here from 1927 until the ground was cleared to make way for something built from scratch, not patched over. Piast Gliwice opened the new arena on 5 November 2011 with a match against Wisła Płock, won 2:1.
The stands hold 9,736 — 9,544 general seats plus 192 in the VIP section — and the largest crowd on record, 9,913, came for a visit from Lech Poznań on 19 May 2019. The design left room for growth to 15,000.
The name changed in 2020. Piotr Wieczorek, who died in 2019, had the ground's mayor-backed renaming settled that same year, and a memorial plaque bearing his name was unveiled on 25 September 2020.
The pitch itself runs heated under natural grass, 105 by 68 metres.
