Vaasa Areena

The Vaasa Areena is a large, modern indoor complex built for ice sports.

The rows are steep, bringing the crowd close to the action.

The arena has undergone significant changes over the years. It opened in 1971, originally as an ice rink for local hockey teams. A major renovation completed in 2020 transformed the interior, replacing the old wooden arch roof with a new metal-trussed design. This work was prompted by a safety incident in 2017 where a ceiling fixture fell during a concert. The expansion increased the capacity to around 5,200 spectators. Today, the venue is known as Vaasan Sähkö Areena due to a sponsorship deal with the local energy company. It serves as the home for the Liiga team Vaasan Sport and also hosts figure skating and other events.
