The Enmax Centre in Lethbridge, Alberta, does not look like a sports arena at all. Its exterior is clad in a patchwork of dark grey and brown metal panels that curve around the building's shape. You would walk past it without knowing what was inside. The only hint comes from the illuminated sign above the entrance, which reads "ENMAX CENTRE" in red and white letters against a black background. The doors themselves are glass, framed in white, and posters on the windows advertise events rather than games.

It opened in September 1974 as the Canada Games Sportsplex, built for the winter games that followed. The original seating capacity was 5,479, a number that has remained steady through various renovations. The city sold the naming rights in 2000, but the building itself has not changed much since its opening. During the hockey season, the ice sits on top of the concrete floor, which is used for concerts and festivals in the summer.

The Lethbridge Hurricanes play here, and the arena is situated in South Lethbridge near the river. The location is quiet, set back from the main road with a large concrete forecourt. There are no banners or flags outside to indicate its purpose. The windows at eye level show glimpses of the interior, but the view is limited.

In August 2024, the naming rights changed hands again, and the venue became the VisitLethbridge.com Arena. The old signs were removed, but the structure remains the same. The capacity for hockey is fixed, though the space can be reconfigured for other events. The floor is concrete in the off-season, ready for different kinds of gatherings. The arena has hosted many events over the years, but the building itself is unassuming. It does not announce itself to the passing traffic. The entrance is plain, with glass doors and a few posters. Inside, the seating rises steeply around the ice. The atmosphere is utilitarian, focused on the game rather than the spectacle.
