Fernando Alonso has extended his Aston Martin contract to race on into 2027, taking the 45-year-old Spaniard into a record 24th season in Formula 1. Team-mate Lance Stroll has also signed a new deal, keeping the pairing unchanged for a fifth year together.
He made his debut in 2001 and won his two titles with Renault, in 2005 and 2006, before spells at McLaren, Ferrari and Alpine. This year he sits 19th in the drivers' standings with three points.
Stroll, 27, has been with the team since 2019, when it still raced as Racing Point. He is 16th in the standings this season with 12 points and has been at Aston Martin through its transformation into its current guise under the Aramco backing.
Alonso said he had taken his time weighing up the decision, but that racing remains his passion and that he is committed to the team long term.
Both drivers pointed to the scale of the rebuild under way at the team's Silverstone base as a factor in their decision to stay. Aston Martin has invested heavily in new facilities in recent seasons as it works to close the gap on the sport's front-runners, though neither driver's current points tally reflects progress in the standings so far this year.
