The Americas Pacific Challenge operated as a developmental tournament for national 'A' teams from the Americas and the Pacific region. World Rugby founded the competition in 2016 to provide a structured pathway for emerging talent outside the senior international structure. It ran concurrently with other regional formats but maintained a distinct identity separate from the club-based Americas Rugby Championship and the senior Sudamérica Rugby competitions. The tournament featured six teams divided into two pools of three. Teams played against the opposite pool in a round-robin style before a combined table determined the winner. There was no promotion or relegation attached to the standings. Argentina XV won the tournament most often, claiming titles in 2016, 2017, and 2021. The competition was inactive after 2021.
