Seven's World Series Women - Australia 2025/26

The HSBC SVNS Women's World Series is the premier annual global rugby sevens competition for women. Distinguished by its global circuit format, the series brings together national teams to accumulate points across a series of tournaments. The 2025–26 season operates under a restructured three-division system, with Division 1 featuring eight core teams. These nations compete in six regular-season tournaments before advancing to the World Championship, also known as the Grand Final. Teams in the top tier battle for supremacy, while movement between divisions is determined by cumulative standings. The bottom four teams from the Division 1 World Championship face relegation to Division 2, whereas the top four teams from that tier earn promotion.

Among the core teams competing in the 2025–26 season are Australia, Fiji, France, New Zealand, South Africa, Spain, Argentina, and the United States. New Zealand holds the record for the most series titles, having secured ten championships as of the current season. Australia has claimed three titles, winning in the 2014–15, 2017–18, and 2021–22 campaigns. The Australian leg of the series has moved between cities over the years, shifting from Gold Coast to Sydney, then to Perth, before returning to Sydney in 2023. The competition is sponsored by HSBC and stands apart from the now-discontinued Rugby World Cup Sevens, which was a quadrennial event rather than an annual series. The series was founded in 2012 by the International Rugby Board, which is now known as World Rugby. The inaugural season ran from 2012 to 2013. Division 2 consists of six teams, while Division 3 comprises eight teams, providing a pathway for emerging nations to reach the elite tier of the sport.
