Slavia Prague women thrashed Baník Ostrava 6:0 in the Czech First League on Saturday, opening their campaign with maximum points and sending a message to the rest of the division. The hosts had drawn their previous outing against Slovácko but looked outclassed from the first whistle. To be fair, Slavia had shown glimpses of vulnerability in their European fixtures, but this was a different proposition entirely.
I. Briede gave the visitors the lead in the twelfth minute, and Slavia never looked back. K. Dubcova doubled the advantage with a penalty in the twenty-second, then added her second just three minutes later. And here's the thing — by then, Ostrava were already playing for pride rather than a comeback. T. Szewieczkova made it four in the fifty-fourth, though K. Lachka's own goal contributed to the tally as well.
Slavia pulled the plug on any remaining hope with two late strikes. L. Kroupova found the net in the seventy-first minute before K. Cvrckova sealed the result in the eighty-third. The visitors made several changes, with T. Szewieczkova, K. Korsun and R. Kravchuk all coming off in the fifty-ninth minute, and a raft of replacements brought on together in the sixty-seventh.
The result leaves Slavia top of the table with nine points from three games, all wins. Baník Ostrava remain in seventh with just one point from three outings, having lost two and drawn one. By then, the gap between the two sides had never looked wider.
