Brazil U20 women secured a convincing 3-0 victory over Canada in their second Group Stage match of the World Cup U20 tournament on Tuesday. The hosts opened the scoring inside the first ten minutes and never looked back after Canada were reduced to ten players. The result leaves Brazil top of the group with three points from one game.
M. Clara converted a penalty in the 7th minute to give Brazil the earliest possible advantage. Canada's fortunes deteriorated sharply when S. Schoeley received a red card in the 25th minute, leaving them to play the second half a man down. By then the structural imbalance was already setting up the rest of the afternoon.
Brazil made no mistake in their numerical superiority, adding two more goals in the second half. Vitorinha found the net in the 49th minute, followed by Brendha in the 52nd. Canada made three substitutions at the interval in an attempt to respond, but the damage had been done. The away side never managed to create a clear-cut opportunity throughout the match.
The statistics tell a story of dominance without efficiency. Brazil registered six shots on target from nine attempts, while Canada managed just two on target from three shots. The hosts had 44 per cent possession against Canada's 56 per cent, yet created zero big chances despite 95 attacks. Canada accumulated more passes and tackles but could not translate control into meaningful pressure.
Brazil now sit top of the group with three points from one game, having beaten Tanzania 4-1 in their opening fixture. Canada remain second with one point from their 1-1 draw against England. This result extends Brazil's momentum while ending any early hopes Canada had of an unbeaten run in the group stage.
