Brommapojkarna and Piteå shared the spoils in a 1:1 draw. The fixture came in the sixteenth round of the Damallsvenskan. The result keeps both sides within touching distance of each other in the table.
A. Hellekant opened the scoring in the 13th minute for the home side. Piteå responded through A. Wulff in the 80th. Between those goals, the match saw several changes at both ends. I. Garmfors came on for Brommapojkarna just after the interval. Hellekant herself was withdrawn in the 61st minute.
The statistics tell a story of missed opportunities rather than dominance. Brommapojkarna held 54 per cent possession and registered 117 attacks, yet managed only four shots on target. Piteå, with 46 per cent possession, had just two shots on target from 105 attacks. That is a lot of shots going begging.
By then, the table tells you something about these sides. Piteå sit eighth with 18 points from 15 games. Brommapojkarna are tenth on 16 points after the same number of outings. This result means neither side closes the gap on the other.
The home side came into this one with a 2:2 draw against Djurgården but before that a 0:6 loss at Häcken's hands. Piteå had their own results — a 0:5 defeat to Hammarby and a 1:4 loss to Häcken. And here's the thing: both sides needed something from this evening.
