Kolkata Police put three past Calcutta in the Calcutta Premier Division regular season on Sunday. The hosts booked a comfortable win at home, seeing off the visitors who have struggled for form all season. By then the visitors were well out of sight.
A. Mondal opened the scoring in the thirty-sixth minute. He worked the ball into space and finished clinically after a quick passing move. The home side kept their side in it early on and never looked back.
S. Dutta made it two before half-time in the forty-eighth minute. A cross came in from the right and Dutta met it first time. T. Prasad closed the game out with a third in the fifty-fifth minute, finishing off another well-worked move.
The visitors have not won since the opening week and this result extends that run. Calcutta sit twenty-third on three points from ten matches, with seven losses already. Kolkata Police remain ninth with seventeen points and a better goal difference.
To be fair, Kolkata Police were never really under pressure after the first goal. They changed the tempo at half-time and paid for a sloppy opening by Calcutta. The clean-sheet run came to an end for the visitors, who now face a tough fixture list ahead.
