Olimpia Cluj Cruise Past Rapid in Liga 1 Opener
Olimpia Cluj women took all three points against Rapid București in the second round of Liga 1, winning 6-1 on Saturday. The match finished with a comfortable margin that reflected Olimpia's control throughout, though Rapid did manage to get on the scoresheet at some point before the visitors ran away with it.
There were seven goals in total, all logged at 39, 51, 58, 78, 81, 89 and 90+3 minutes. By then it was clear what was happening — Rapid had one answer but Olimpia kept coming. And here's the thing about early-season games like this: you can see which side has already found its rhythm.
The result leaves Olimpia top of the table on six points from two wins, while Rapid sit seventh with zero from two. To be fair, Olimpia weren't always this clinical — their recent record shows a 6-2 win against Universitatea Craiova women, but also losses to Timişoara and Farul Constanţa, plus a draw with Chikşereda.
They've held their nerve in these opening rounds, though. The gap between second and the rest is already two points, and Olimpia look like they fancy their chances of keeping it that way. Rapid, meanwhile, are searching for something that hasn't arrived yet.
Two wins, two points ahead — that's the position Olimpia hold after Saturday. Whether they can sustain it remains to be seen, but for now they're the side everyone's watching.
